Tey al-Tool is a similar word to Tay al-Arz (Tool meaning length, and Arz meaning world and width in Persian). So Tay al-Arz means passing the world (or width), and Tey al-Tool means passing the length. Tay al-arz (folding up of the earth, or covering long distances in the blink of an eye) is the name given to teleportation in the mystical and philosophical Islamic tradition. The concept is expressed as “traversing the earth without moving.”
Tey-Al-Tool is an ongoing digital self-portrait project created using virtual 3D worlds based on my experiences of working with computer software, and allows the audience to teleport and discover it. It challenges me to find digital aesthetic potentials in my daily real life, and experience the meaning of characteristic creation as a media artist. This project also attempts to make digital aesthetics of a daily life, and is available to download as an Artgame.
