Dysgaard investigate how images and signs are instrumental in creating our cultural identity. In “The Door of the Law” we see an intense declaration of love for the American flag, taking place between two characters. They kiss and neatly caress the flag in an intimate manner that tends toward the bizarre. The scene has undertones of objectfetishism, thus commenting on the way we often cling to identity markers. Dysgaard make us reflect on the new realities of globalization, what they mean to us as national individuals and as citizens of the world in this iconographic theatre we call our reality.
